Dream On Me Soho Convertible Crib in Matte Black Vintage

The JPMA and GREENGUARD Gold certifications are what pushed us toward this crib, since our youngest is still sleeping in our room part-time and I did not want a strong paint smell in the nursery. There was no chemical smell when we opened the box, and the mattress fits snugly with no weird edge gaps. The matte black vintage finish looks more expensive than the price, too.

Small complaint: the conversion kit being separate means you have to plan ahead if you want to use it as a toddler bed later. But for the crib stage, it feels safe, simple, and sturdy.

I ordered this online and honestly I was nervous because I did not see it in person first. When it arrived, the finish and shape matched the photos really closely, which was such a relief. Packaging was good too, no dents or scuffs. It just made the whole process easy.

We have a smaller room and I was worried this would feel bulky, but it actually leaves us enough space to move around the dresser and chair. The footprint is sensible and the crib does not dominate the room. I liked that I could plan the layout from the measurements and it still worked out in real life. Very practical for a city apartment.

Overall I really like the design. The matte black reads a little warmer in person than on my screen, and the natural wood posts give it a nice Scandinavian look. It is still very elegant, just not as stark as the photos suggested. We kept it because the proportions are lovely and it works well in the room.

I looked at the joints and the fasteners before anything else. This crib is heavy enough to feel stable, and there is no wobble once assembled. The post connections are tight, the alignment is good, and the finish does not look sprayed on unevenly. It seems built like furniture, not a temporary baby item.

My wife chose this crib, I put it together. The instructions were clear enough, and all the hardware was organized well. It took me a little under an hour, maybe 70 minutes with a coffee break. Nothing confusing, no missing parts, and the bolts lined up properly.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time checking safety details before ordering this crib, and the first thing I noticed was the lack of that strong chemical smell when we opened the box. The finish looked clean, and the black was exactly what I wanted for a simpler nursery. For us, that peace of mind was the main thing. It feels reassuring to have in the room.
